In Frank and Passionate Defence of Thomas Mulcair

Well I've defended Justin Trudeau a lot recently, in three of my last six posts.

When she was attacked, I defended Elizabeth May.

And now it seems I must defend Tom Mulcair.

From a story that suggests that he is really a closeted Harper Con.

Why the Cons Won't Be Charged For Their Terrorist Attack Ad

If you've seen this latest Con attack ad aimed at Justin Trudeau, you know how monstrous it is.

How it starts with the sinister ISIS anthem, and crudely and cruelly exploits the faces of men about to be savagely killed. You know why it's been called a snuff film.

And why Stephen Harper should be charged under the provisions of his own ghastly Bill C-51, for spreading terrorist propaganda.

But sadly it seems Harper and his ghastly gang will NOT be charged.

For at least one very good reason.

Is It Time to Rename the Cons the Canadian Convict Party?

As you probably know, I've written hundreds if not thousands of posts about the nefarious activities of Boss Harper and his Con mob.

And for more information please consult the latest version of Alison's Perps with Perks.

Because you can't find a better group mugshot anywhere.

But sometimes a simple cartoon can sum up the situation better than a thousand words.

And this is one of them...

The Confederate Flag, the Redneck Parade, and the Warrior Queen

I haven't written anything on this blog about the controversy over whether the confederate flag should be banned, like the one flying outside the South Carolina legislature, for two reasons:

One, the racism and the gun violence of America makes me sick to my stomach.

And two, I made my feelings pretty clear on Twitter.

But I thought I should share this video about a redneck parade in Georgia, because while it's horrifying and outrageous, the end is hilarious.

How Stephen Harper Changed the Face of Canada

It still looks like the Canada I first saw on a glorious fall day long ago, through the window of a plane coming into land at Montreal airport.

As I bounced up and down in my seat with excitement, and looked down to see if I could spot any bears on Mount Royal.

A country so big and so beautiful, it took my breath away.

But sadly it isn't the same country. For as Carol Goar points out, Stephen Harper has altered it almost beyond recognition.

Stephen Harper, the Terrorists, and the Canadian Demockery

Well it's been three days since Stephen Harper and his Cons teamed up with the beasts from ISIS to make that ghastly attack ad.

And even though it starts with the sinister ISIS national anthem, and goes downhill from there, they still haven't been arrested for promoting terrorist propaganda.

The Anti-terrorism Act makes it an indictable offence to knowingly advocate or promote terrorism in general, and allows a judge to issue a warrant to seize terrorist propaganda. Under the law, “terrorist propaganda” means any writing, video or audio that promotes the commission of terrorism offences in general or counsels the commission of an offence.

Even though Harper is a repeat offender.

The Incredibly Dangerous Delusions of the Corrupt Con Regime

I must admit that when I first read that Kory Teneycke was defending the Con's latest disgusting attack ad, by claiming: "We’re better than news, because we’re truthful."

After a moment of shock and disbelief, I practically fell out of my chair laughing.

Even though as I later pointed out, him and his Cons should be arrested, for spreading terrorist propaganda.

But then, just a few hours after I wrote that post, I had a terrifying thought.

What if Teneycke and the other little monsters in the PMO really believe what they're saying?

What if it isn't naked hypocrisy? It's terrifying self DELUSION !!!!

Watch Kory Teneycke Try to Explain Why the Cons Shouldn't Be Arrested

As you may know the Cons have just released a new attack ad, which uses ISIS' images and music to attack Justin Trudeau.

And should, according to the provisions of their own Bill C-51, cause the Cons to be arrested.

But now you must really watch the Harperite stooge Kory Teneycke try to defend the Con propaganda machine.

And fail miserably.

The Real Reason the Con Regime Killed the HarperPAC

Three days ago I wrote about how a group of well known young conservative activists had created a monstrous HarperPAC.

A political action committee that would collect money from Big Business, especially Big Oil, to attack the progressive parties and the unions.

But before the rapidly swelling beast was able to crawl out of its crib, it was brutally squished by Stephen Harper himself.

The Day Equality and Love Defeated Bigotry and Hate

The timing couldn't have been better, coming as it did two days before the 46th anniversary of the so-called Stonewall Riots in New York City...

The revolt that is principally credited as the beginning of the gay liberation movement in the United States. And is celebrated every year with pride marches all over the world.

But millions and millions of LGBT Americans still had to struggle for almost half a century against the most insane and brutish bigotry, to be granted this measure of human equality.

Stephen Harper, the Merchant of Fear, and the Con's Ghastly New Attack Ad

He's tried everything but nothing is working. And the situation couldn't be more desperate.

So Stephen Harper is going back to the basics. Back to what he does best.

Trying to scare Canadians into voting for him. And attacking Justin Trudeau.

Or as he does in the latest, and most grotesque Con attack ad ever, trying to do both at the same time.

Jason Kenney and the Not So Great Con War on Russia

As you know, the thought that Jason Kenney is our Defence Minister, sometimes keeps me awake at night. Or makes me wake up screaming.

Because I fear that absurd chicken hawk might use his big mouth, and appalling judgement, to make the dangerous situation in Ukraine even more dangerous.

And lead us cheerfully into the Third World War, or what religious fanatics like him call The Rapture.

So I'm glad to report that Kenney is now deflating his own balloon.

Dean Del Mastro Is Going to the Big House

He claimed he was totally innocent.

When a judge said he wasn't, he said he didn't share her opinion.

But of course the judge had the last opinion.

And Dean Del Mastro is going to jail.

Stephen Harper and the Hidden Story of the Anti-Gay Judge

For weeks I've been trying to warn everyone I know that Stephen Harper is now so desperate that he is planning to make bigotry his secret weapon in his election campaign.

His sinister silence after the release of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission report spoke volumes. Even as a torrent of hatred poured out of the comment pages all over the country.

His decision to introduce an anti-niqab bill on the last day of Parliament made it clear that he intends to use it as a wedge issue. Dangle it like a piece of meat in front of his rabid base, and whip them into a foaming frenzy of anti Muslim hatred.

And now he's going after another marginalized group: LGBT Canadians.

The Desperate Struggle to Block Stephen Harper's Monument to Himself

Today is the day the National Capital Commission will vote to decide whether to break ground for the building of Stephen Harper's monument to himself, the so-called Memorial to the Victims of Communism.

And although the ugly Stalinist monument has been denounced by hundreds of groups from architects to veterans, as an absolute monstrosity.

The corrupt Cons are taking steps to fix the vote.

The Liberals Fire Back at the Anti-Trudeau Con Ad

I'm sure that by now you've seen this Con attack ad at least a hundred times, because it's receiving massive air play on every TV channel.

And I have to admit that although I'm officially non-partisan, its smarmy script offends every bone in my body.

And if I hear that loon say this one more time...

"Legalizing MAREEJUANA is that the biggest problem we have to solve?"

I think I'll scream. Or throw something at the TV.

So I'm glad to see the Liberals have a new version of that ad.

The HarperPAC, Big Money, and the Americanization of Canada

As you may have heard, a group of Harper supporters have created a political action committee to attack the progressive parties.

Supporters of Stephen Harper have formed a political-advertising unit separate from the Conservative Party that will run attack ads, targeting Facebook, Google and Twitter users, to help the Tory re-election effort as a federal ballot approaches.

HarperPAC has already produced a spot alleging Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau is unqualified to be prime minister and its next project is an ad, aimed at British Columbia voters, that will warn against electing a federal NDP government.

And whatever those Cons might say, it is the final Americanization of our political system.

The Ghastly Hypocrisy of the Shameless Stephen Harper

Stephen Harper has so many monstrous human flaws, I think my fingers would fall off before I finished typing all of them.

But one of the worst is his ghastly hypocrisy.

For he is the leader who promised transparency when he came to power only to turn his filthy regime into the most secretive government ever. The leader who promised to clean up government only to turn it into a pig sty.

The one who talks about "freedom" all the time while passing Bill C-51 that would turn us into a police state.

And this banquet last night is only the latest example.

Why is the Harper Regime Training Neo-Nazis in Ukraine?

As you know Stephen Harper is leading the charge against the Russians in Ukraine, with his big mouth.

In relentless pursuit of the ethnic vote.

And to try to distract Canadians from all the other enemies he'd rather not face...

David Parkins/Globe and Mail

But if he is posing as a freedom fighter, why is he forcing our military to train neo-Nazis?

Jason Kenney Makes a Fool Out of Himself on Twitter. Again

Among his many dubious achievements, Jason Kenney is also known as the Con's most aggressive Twitter warrior.

A man who blasts tweets out of every orifice without stopping to think what he's saying.

And today he made a fool out of himself. Again.

By invoking Sharia law rather than Canadian law in the debate over whether woman should be allowed to wear a niqab at a citizenship ceremony.

Solo Stephen and the Scary Collapse of the House of Harper

As you know Stephen Harper has been losing so many ministers recently, that even though he's a psychopath not a people person, he must be feeling awfully lonely.

And of course desperately vulnerable.

For how can he claim that the opposition parties are unfit to govern?

When his front bench is now so thin, and his talent pool so shallow, one really has to wonder whether the Cons can still call themselves a government.

What with their Great Leader looking so shrunken...

The Dangerous Summer Journey of Canadian Progressives

Summer is finally here, and I couldn't be happier. Not just because I live for this season when everything comes alive.

But also because I know that when this one dies, in the land where summers are so short, so will Stephen Harper's deathly Con regime.

But what I also know, and all progressives need to understand, is that the last part of our long journey to freedom will be fraught with danger.

Because we are now entering the perilous waters of vote splitting. And we could still snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Stephen Harper Takes On The Russians: The PMO Movie

Well I'm sure you remember the day Stephen Harper borrowed a Canadian frigate, the HMCS Fredericton, and went for a spin on the Baltic Sea.

And how the appearance of two Russian frigates on the horizon was hyped by his propaganda machine into sounding like he had faced down Vladimir Putin himself.

With the help of Jason Kenney...

Well now the PMO movie is out, and it turns out to be considerably less dramatic.

Stephen Harper, Don Meredith, and the Deathly Bigotry of the Cons

It's been two days since senator Don Meredith resigned from the Con caucus after being accused of having a sexual relationship with a teenage girl.

And since then the Cons have been desperately trying to distance themselves from yet another of Stephen Harper's stellar appointments.

But they cannot or will not explain why Harper would appoint a man to the Senate who was once rejected as a candidate by Ontario's Progressive Conservatives.

“We talked to him, we met with him, and we rejected him,” said a provincial Conservative insider, who spoke on condition of anonymity so as not to be seen questioning Harper’s judgment.

And with good reason. For it was all about pleasuring his rabid religious base, and all about bigotry.

Stephen Harper's Monstrous Plan to Steal the Election

After four years and 24 days of being slowly strangled by Stephen Harper, the 41st Parliament has finally groaned its last, and given up the ghost.

And although that bestial leader must have enjoyed savaging the traditions and values of the country he hates with a passion only he can muster.

He can hardly be celebrating. Because his depraved behaviour has finally caught up with him.

And it is, as Chantal Hébert writes, his season of discontent.

The Con Clown James Moore Jumps Off the Harper Ship

Well the last time we saw James Moore he was bobbing up and down in English Bay claiming that the Con's pathetic oil recovery effort was "world class."

But now I'm delighted to report, the Con beluga has spouted his last blast of hot air, slipped below the surface.

And become the latest high-profile Con to abandon Stephen Harper.

How Bill C-51 Will Remake Canada in Stephen Harper's Paranoid Image

In one of my last posts I wrote about how Stephen Harper is now so desperate he is looking crazier every day.

Morphing into a monster who can no longer be restrained by the rule of law.

And yesterday when he flew into Toronto to personally deliver a cheque for a commuter train project, those fears were only reinforced...

For although he was plastered with make-up, there was new look in his cold dead eyes.

And it was pretty clear that something had changed, and that his transformation is now complete.

Pope Francis and the Moral Revolution to Save the Planet

His enemies tried to undermine Pope Francis' encyclical on climate change by leaking it before it was officially released today.

But it's still an incredibly powerful document.

Pope Francis on Thursday called for a radical transformation of politics, economics and individual lifestyles to confront environmental degradation and climate change, as his much-awaited papal encyclical blended a biting critique of consumerism and irresponsible development with a plea for swift and unified global action.

And what makes it so powerful for me, is its call for a moral revolution.

Stephen Harper's Disastrous Day of Con Scandals

I grabbed this screen shot of Question Period yesterday with my new, shiny, but very cheap cell phone.

And as you can see it didn't come out that well eh?

You do get what you pay for, just like you do get what you vote for.

But when I looked at it later, I thought it captured Stephen Harper's state of mind rather well.

For he is desperate, he is a mess, and it was yet another disastrous day of scandals, starting with this one.

The Day Stephen Harper Admitted he Pressured the Police to Break the Law

For years Stephen Harper has made a mockery out of our democracy, turned our parliament into a Roman circus, attacked the courts, and flouted the rule of law over and over again.

Like some deranged ruler on some monstrous throne, who is so crazed with the lust for power, and so morally depraved, he now believes he's above the law and can do anything he wants.

And for years he has managed to dodge and weave, and claim that he knows nothing about anything bad that ever happens in his sinister office. Or the dungeons of the PMO.

But now at last, he may have finally gone too far.

Pope Francis and the Wolves in the Vatican

As you may know Pope Francis' encyclical on climate change has been leaked to the media before its scheduled release on Thursday.

Pope Francis will this week call for changes in lifestyles and energy consumption to avert the “unprecedented destruction of the ecosystem” before the end of this century, according to a leaked draft of a papal encyclical. In a document released by an Italian magazine on Monday, the pontiff will warn that failure to act would have “grave consequences for all of us”.

And not only is it a clear attempt to steal his thunder.

Even more ominously, it shows that there are wolves in the Vatican who may be out to destroy him.

The Incredible Sexist Idiocy of General Tom Lawson

I've never had much time for Gen. Tom Lawson, our country's top soldier.

I believe he has helped turn our military into Harper's Army. And has not done enough to fight this hideous problem.

The Canadian Armed Forces perpetuates a sexualized military culture that is hostile to women and gay members, and harassment and assault are often tolerated by senior officers, according to a report released Thursday.

But this is the absolute limit.

Why Canada Desperately Needs a Magna Carta Moment

Yesterday was the 800th anniversary of the day King John reluctantly signed the Magna Carta, the document that was the foundation of our parliamentary democracy, and the rule of law.

And most importantly declared that nobody was above the law, not even the king.

So it's ironic that few people have celebrated that anniversary more than Jason Kenney.

In one tweet after the other.

Even though we are now ruled by his mad king, who has placed himself above the law over and over again. And has made a mockery of our democracy.

Stephen Harper and the Deathly March of the Zombie Bills

With every passing day Stephen Harper and his rotting Con regime look more desperate, and more deathly.

For not only do they look like escapees from the Night of the Living Dead.

In the dying days of this Parliament, even their bills are looking like zombies.

Why Rona Ambrose Needs to Chill Out Her Reefer Madness

As you know, I am totally disgusted by the way Rona Ambrose is failing to act as a Health Minister should.

Failing to put the pain and suffering of Canadians before her foul Con ideology.

Which as a Health Minister, and a human being, is about as low as you can go.

So I'm glad to see the Star editorialists ask the obvious question:

What on earth has she been nibbling on?

The Real Reason Pope Francis Humiliated Stephen Harper

Well now we know why Pope Francis ruined Stephen Harper's little photo-op at the Vatican the other day.

By giving Harper only ten minutes of his time, compared to the fifty minutes he gave Vladimir Putin.

And looking like he couldn't wait to get rid of him.

But the reason Harper looked so green after the meeting was over...

Graeme MacKay/Hamilton Spectator

Probably had less to do with Putin, and more to do with the Pope's plan to call for a green revolution.

OK. Who Forgot to Invite Me to the Bilderberg Meeting??!!!

Well I wasn't really shocked that somebody forgot to invite me to the Bilderberg meeting at that luxury resort in Austria.

You know, the top secret conclave of the rich and the powerful, which has been called everything from the home of the New World Order, to the lair of the Fourth Reich.

But I must admit I was disappointed.

Because I've got three opinions on EVERYTHING, I absolutely LOVE shrimp cocktails, and I've always wanted to drive my Porche, or in my case my bicycle, into the lobby of a fancy hotel...

Disappointed that is, until I read this story.

Horror Story: The Ghastly Picture of Chris Alexander

As some of you may know, I like to compare the Con Immigration Minister Chris Alexander, to the ghastly portrait in The Picture of Dorian Gray, Oscar Wilde's classic story.

Except in this story Dorian is Chris, and his portrait starts to turn monstrous after the once young bright diplomat sells his soul to Stephen Harper.

And today I have another scary chapter in that horror story.

Which begins when Alexander is interviewed, appropriately enough, by Vice Magazine.

Orange Surge: New Poll Shows the NDP Leading the Other Parties

As I've been saying for quite a while the winds of change are sweeping across this country, and the latest EKOS poll only confirms that.

The NDP is still rising like a rocket.

It's lead over the other parties continues to grow.

And if an election was held tomorrow it would likely be in a position to form a minority government.

Will the Politics of Division Help Bring Down the Harper Regime?

Let it be recorded in the chronicle of this dark time, that seven years to the day after he apologized for the residential school tragedy, Stephen Harper deliberately chose not to help heal that still bleeding wound in the history and the soul of Canada.

By meeting with Pope Francis, whose church ran two-thirds of those schools, but failing to ask HIM to apologize for what was done to so many poor aboriginal children.

Which can only make his apology ring deathly hollow. Or as Don Martin suggests, look like just another empty act.

The Con Clown Rona Ambrose and the Great War on Marijuana

OMG. I don't what we're going to do with the Con clown Rona Ambrose. She doesn't seem to understand that she supposed to be the Minister of Health, not the Minister of Pain and Suffering.

That's Stephen Harper's job.

For barely two months ago she was going after Vancouver's pot shops as if she was the Minister of Justice.

And now she's going after people who take marijuana for medicinal purposes, and is trying to force them to smoke it, instead of consuming it in healthier ways.

The Day Pope Francis Humiliated Stephen Harper

Well it seems that it was as I predicted yesterday. Pope Francis was indeed not too happy to see Stephen Harper.

And couldn't have made his feelings more obvious.

Harper’s 10-minute meeting with the Pope Francis was unusually short by Vatican standards. Russian President Vladimir Putin had a nearly 50-minute private audience with the pontiff a day earlier.

But then who came blame him eh?

The Day Stephen Harper Stared Down the Russians

It had to be one of the scariest confrontations in the Baltic Sea since the darkest days of the Cold War.

Or one of the most ridiculous.

For there was Stephen Harper, on day five of his mega tour of Europe, in feverish pursuit of the ethnic vote...

You know, the mega photo-op that's costing us MILLIONS.

When old Queeg, the self-styled Scourge of Putin, peered through his binoculars and saw the Russians were coming !!!!

Stephen Harper and the Great War on Pensions

Well there he was in Poland yesterday, relentlessly pursuing the ethnic vote again, by portraying himself as the fearless leader of the Great War on Russia.

And the champion of freedom and democracy.

Even as the Senate rammed through his totalitarian anti-terror bill.

Which will kill OUR freedoms and turn us into a police state,

But at least on the Great War on Pensions front, Stephen Harper did suffer a serious setback.
