Justin Trudeau and the Un-Googling of Stephen Harper

As you probably know I have been extremely pleased by the systematic way Justin Trudeau and his Liberals have been demolishing Stephen Harper's foul legacy.

Scrapping his monuments, deep sixing his fascist crime bills, taking out the garbage, and improving our image in the eyes of the world.

And in that regard this is another excellent move.

The un-Googling of Great Leader.

Dozens of government web pages related to former Conservative Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s time in office have been removed from all Google search results at the new Liberal government’s request.

In fact, the requests on behalf of the Privy Council Office to remove sites such as Harper’s daily.pm.gc.ca site and the former PMO’s 24seven video website from search results began Nov. 4, 2015 – the day Liberal Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s government was sworn into office.

Because it really is time to clean up this country, and pull the plug on the Harper years.

And who would miss this?

And it's not like Stephen Harper can accuse anyone of acting like Big Brother.

When he was Big Daddy personified...

And as for his hapless stooge Candice Bergen, who has been yapping away or honking away like only she can...

“Regardless of what somebody might think of Stephen Harper, Stephen Harper served the Canadian public as a member of parliament and then as prime minister for over 10 years.”

Bergen described the move as “Orwellian” and “censorship”, adding it was “sneaky”, “petty” and “not transparent.”

She's got a nerve accusing anyone of not being transparent,

And one can only hope that her own ghastly porky propaganda meets the same fate...

But here's the thing that makes her honking even more ridiculous.

Although many Canadians do want all traces of the Harper legacy erased...

It's normal practice to remove dead web pages and they are not really being disappeared.

Christiane Fox, assistant secretary for communications in the Privy Council, said the requests to Google were part of the Privy Council’s standard transition from the Harper government to Trudeau’s.

She said the content of Harper’s prime ministerial website was transferred to Library and Archives Canada but did not know whether it was online and available to the public.

And if the Privy Council hadn't done it, Google's web crawlers would have.

While the request from the government would have resulted in the search results changing quickly, Brindle said Google’s crawlers would have also have fairly quickly determined that the websites weren’t available and would have made the adjustment automatically.

So it is just another manufactured controversy, and yet another reason why we can't allow the Cons to ever rule this country again. They're not just evil they're really dumb.

But happily this is still the bottom line:

A year ago Stephen Harper was swaggering around and dreaming of another glorious majority.

Now he has left the building.

And by one way or another his legacy IS being slowly deleted...

Bring back the gun registry and let's stick it to the NRA and the Harper's legacy.

Unfortunately, he hasn't left the building yet. When I can't find this page anywhere but the Internet Archive and Google cache, then you can sound the all clear.

And for all the Cons complaining, it's not gone, it's archived as per standard procedure. Let's face it, it makes sense that when you google the very popular Canadian Prime Minister you aren't going to get Stevie Boy. Why would Bergen and their ilk think otherwise?

Hi Simon, Montreal Con here. Hope you're enjoying your Friday night. Can you make a video sometime? Or even a politics comic slide with commentary? I want to get to know you better!

Poor Candiss. I suggest she erect a hair spray scented statue of Stevie in her home that she can idolize as she fritters away her tattered existence. Harper's sordid history is history and if anyone needs to be educated on it they can start by reading Simon's posts from the last 10 years.

hi anon...I was a supporter of the gun registry, but it's such a divisive issue I doubt the Liberal government will dare to reinstate it. They are promising to strengthen gun control, but I don't think a registry will be part of that plan...

hi anon...well yes you're technically right. He hasn't yet resigned his seat. But I notice that he has stopped attending even votes in the House of Commons, so don't expect to see him back in Ottawa after the summer break...

hi anon...well yes it is just another manufactured controversy, and with the dumb Candice Bergen yapping away, I'm pretty sure the Cons will hurt themselves more than they hurt the Liberals....

hi MC...yes I'm hoping to make some videos this summer, but I doubt I'll make one using my own voice. I'm pretty soft spoken, and when I boost my voice it doesn't sound great. However I am thinking of getting a proper sound system, so who knows...

hi JD...yes it does seem that Bergen and Rempelare in some kind of competition to see who can be more obnoxious. But then they do both have something in common. Both ran for the position of interim leader, they both lost, and both are really bitter...

Ferret-face's last recorded vote was this week, on June 14. The bastard's hanging around like a bad stench.
