Donald Trump and the Bigot Wizard

For weeks Donald Trump has been flirting with fascism. And teetering on the edge of the Pit of Depravity.

By retweeting material from white supremacists.

In a desperate effort to flatter them, and pander to his bigot base.

And now it seems he has stumbled into the pit or the sewer, and into the arms of the Ku Klux Klan.

Has Progressive Bloggers Been Hacked?

As I'm sure many of you know, the Progressive Blogger's site has been down for more than five days.

Or frozen in time.

And if what Scott Tribe, one of the site's administrators reports,  turns out to be true.

It couldn't be a more ominous development.

Kevin O'Leary and the Con Clowns

I've been trying to ignore the so-called Con Woodstock at the Manning Centre this weekend.

Because life is too short.

And there are no signs of (intelligent) life there...

But maybe the deathly gloom is contagious, for I have to admit I've been feeling a little down myself.

So I'm glad to see that I can always count on the Con clown Kevin O'Leary to cheer me up.

Preston Manning and the School for Cons

Well it's that time of the year again. When Preston Manning, the parson of The Church of the Reformers, summons his Con flock to gather in his presence at the Manning Centre Conference.

But this year the stench of defeat hangs over the event. It's more like a wake than a party.

And the only clear messages that can be heard over the sound of the wailing and gnashing of teeth, is the one the police are sending out.

As a warning to delegates not to go hog wild.

And the crazed call of the parson to destroy Justin Trudeau.

Cleopatra Ambrose's Week of Bitter Disappointment

As you may or may not know, Rona Ambrose is called Cleopatra by some of her friends and her enemies in Ottawa.

And carries only two burning thoughts around in her head, for that's all she can memorize.

How to destroy Justin Trudeau, and how to wreck electoral reform by demanding a referendum.

So sadly for her this week had to be one of her worst since Mark Antony Stephen Harper left her.

Rona Ambrose and the Growing Darkness of the Cons

Pity poor Rona Ambrose. With every day that passes her claim that she's the leader of the new/nouveau Cons grows darker and more dubious.

She's still claiming she knows what she's doing, and that she is in charge.

But she just keeps repeating the same message over and over again.

And she can't even control her caucus.

Donald Trump and the Rise of the Violent Demagogue

Donald Trump has claimed that he could shoot a person in the middle of a crowded street and his supporters would still vote for him.

And despite that statement it seems he's right.

But what also seems obvious is that with every passing day he is becoming even more of a dangerous demagogue.

And what happened when a demonstrator held up an anti-Trump sign at one of his recent rallies couldn't be a clearer warning.

Justin Trudeau, Young Canadians, and the Last Election

During the last election campaign I spent most of my free time trying to encourage young Canadians to vote.

As did a lot of other people and groups all over the country.

I got the feeling that more of them would vote than had voted in other elections. But I couldn't be sure.

That is until yesterday.

The Day Rona Ambrose Was Exposed as a Harper Puppet

Ever since Rona Ambrose became interim leader of the Cons she has been trying to pretend that it's no longer the Harper Party.

But she just can't do it. She just can't stop hugging her monstrous leader.

For when the Liberals announced yesterday that the deficit will be bigger than expected.

The Liberal government is setting the stage for a budget deficit that will be nearly three times the maximum $10-billion the party promised during the election campaign.

This was her first question in the House of Commons...

Stephen Harper and the Day of Reckoning

Well I think it's safe to say that Stephen Harper will not be seen anywhere near Parliament Hill today.

And that he will spend yet another day hiding from Canadians.

Because today would not be a very good day to come out of the closet.

For three very good reasons.

Donald Trump and the Lord of the Pigs

As you know, when Donald Trump began his campaign for President of the United States I thought he was just a bad joke.

And it was just another insane bigot eruption in the so-called Land of the Free.

But now that he appears to be closing in on the Republican nomination I'm forced to take him seriously.

Now with every day that passes I consider him more crazy and more dangerous.

The Politics of Hope and the Desperation of Rona Ambrose

I can only imagine how Rona Ambrose must be feeling this weekend, but it can't be a pretty picture.

For weeks, with the help of the Con media, she has been bombing Justin Trudeau like a bat out of hell.

Or a maniac...

She has accused him of being a coward and a traitor. She has accused him of stealing the Con's phoney surplus. She has tried to end his political honeymoon by whatever smear necessary.

But it's just not working.

Ezra Levant and the Rebel Cruise From Hell

As we all know, when Ezra Levant isn't spouting hate, he's begging for money.

And him and his trusty sidekick Brian Lilley have been known to do or say anything to raise the cash they need to keep their bigot boat afloat.

Or sell anything.

But all that cheap swag, and all those five dollar contributions, can't keep The Rebel going, or pay for Levant's hefty legal bills.

So now he has come up with his most ambitious fundraising project EVER.

The Day the Harper Legacy Got Hit By a Double Whammy

Well what a difference a day makes. On Wednesday I was worried that Justin Trudeau was being too nice to the Cons.

And warned him it would get him nowhere.

But yesterday Justin and his government more than made up for that momentary lapse.

By delivering two more crushing blows to Stephen Harper's foul legacy.

The Hollow Victory of the Con Bigot Ezra Levant

I wasn't planning to write anything more about Ezra Levant's great "victory" over Rachel Notley's government.

But after seeing the tongue bath he is receiving from our Con media, I thought I should make one thing clear.

Notley made a mistake by banning Levant on the grounds that neither him nor his racist roaches are journalists. Because anyone can be a journalist.

But he should be banned from all clean and decent places because he is a grubby bigot.

Why Playing Nice With the Cons Won't Work

I learned long ago that if you want to help build a more equal, kinder, gentler society, you have to be as tough and as ruthless as the Con zombies who infest this world.

For they will try to destroy you, and being nice will get you nowhere.

So when I heard a group of hapless hacks on CBC's Power and Politics nodding their heads, like pigeons do when they walk. And agreeing that Rona Ambrose was doing a GREAT job as interim leader of the Harper Party.

I felt like shouting: No, no, not Rona Ambrose !!#@!!

Not those lying Con artists !!!!

The Day Ezra Levant Claimed That He Was Being Bullied

It could only happen in a country still recovering from the depraved rule of Stephen Harper.

Where members of Ezra Levant's hate mongering site The Rebel were thrown out  of two Alberta government news conferences for posing as journalists.

Only to threaten to sue the government for not recognizing their phoney credentials.

Rona The Droner Ambrose's Insane Fighting Frenzy

Well I know some people think I'm exaggerating when I say that Rona Ambrose's bombing obsession is now bordering on insanity.

Or when I say that she repeats herself a lot, and that her almost primeval urge to destroy Justin Trudeau can barely be contained.

And yes, I admit that image of Ambrose riding a nuclear bomb was inspired by the way she's trying to talk up a Third World War AND because she's married to a former rodeo bull rider.

But consider the latest evidence.

Rona Ambrose and the Foul Con Assault On Our Values

It was Family Day in Ontario, and and a slow news day at CBC Ottawa, so they invited Rona Ambrose to appear on Power and Politics.

So she could talk about the subject that excites her the most: bombing Iraq and Syria, and Justin Trudeau. Not necessarily in that order.

And needless to say it was a bomb. A political porn show if ever there was one.

For obvious reasons.

The Cons and the Right Wing Terrorist Threat

They are the terrorist threat Stephen Harper never warned us about.

For while he spent almost a decade branding everyone from refugees, to environmentalists, to scientists and humanitarian groups, as potential terrorists and threats to Canada's national security.

He completely ignored some of the most dangerous people in Canada...

The Postmedia Cons: We Don't Get No Respect Waaaaah !!!!

The other day I suggested that Postmedia reporters must be in some kind of contest to see who can attack Justin Trudeau the most.

To please their boss Paul Godfrey, and try to keep their jobs.

But don't let them know that you think they're biased.

Or they'll accuse you of showing them no respect.

How You Can Help Save The Lives of Those Who Would Save You

I don't usually run public service announcements on this blog.

But because my heroes are healers not killers I'm going to make an exception.

And ask you to please help spread this message:

If you see the flashing lights of emergency vehicles ahead please slow down.

Justin Trudeau and the Antidote to Cynicism

Well it took a while, but I finally found a writer in the MSM who shares my feeling about Justin Trudeau's first 100 days.

One who unlike the others sees the glass half full instead of half empty.

One who remembers the horror of the Con regime, and our lost decade.

And sees the arrival of our young leader and his news government as something to celebrate.

Valentine's Day and the Society of the Lonely

Well it's Valentine's Day,  and as usual I don't want to write about it, and I do.

For while I don't want to be seen to be encouraging that garish orgy of chocolate boxes, sappy sentiment, and heart shaped balloons.

The horror, the horror.

And for me Valentine's Day came early this year...

It is a great excuse to talk about the lonely.

Has Rona Ambrose's Bombing Campaign Just Gone Up In Smoke?

One might think by the way Rona Ambrose goes on and on about bombing people, that she was born to kill.

And that she just can't help herself...

But although she is deeply disturbed, the real reason is that ever since she saw this poll.

She's been going wild, and I mean WILD, trying to use the issue to bomb her favourite target: Justin Trudeau.

Why is Rex Murphy Trying to Inflame Alberta Separatists?

As I pointed out recently, Big Oil's sinking fortunes are driving its faithful hooker Rex Murphy over the deep end.

He has been using his bully pulpits on The National and in the National Post to blame everybody but Stephen Harper for the dire situation in Alberta.

But even by his low standards this deranged rant is absolutely outrageous.

The Con Media and Justin Trudeau's First 100 Days

Well yesterday was the day the MSM decided to devote a lot of their coverage to Justin Trudeau's first 100 days in office.

And I must say I found it a rather depressing spectacle.

For there they were toting up his promises, made, kept, or in their opinion broken. Already.

Like a bunch of grubby bank clerks, writing up some small company's balance sheet.

And in my opinion completely missing the big picture.

Bernie Sanders and the New American Revolution

Three days after Bernie Sanders' victory in New Hampshire I'm still floating on a cloud, and dreaming up a storm.

I still can't quite believe my eyes. How could an old leftie calling for a revolution in the United States of America manage to win so convincingly?

But I suppose it's only fitting that it happened in a state with the motto "Live Free or Die."

For it is a new American revolution, and at its core is a simple but radical idea.

Stephen Harper and the House of Pork

If there is an enduring image of Stephen Harper's grotesque regime I suppose it will be something like that one.

A lot of Con hogs heading for the trough, or trying to buy an election.

And sticking the rest of us with the bill.

Rona Ambrose's Horrible Day of Triple Embarrassment

Well let's put it this way, it wasn't one of Rona Ambrose's better days.

It's not that she's had many good ones. She hasn't.

But this was a day of triple embarrassment.

First Kevin O'Leary took aim at Rona's bombing fixation.

Then the American military made her look foolish.

Kevin O'Leary Blows His Chances of Becoming Con Leader

Well it's looks as if Kevin O'Leary has blown his last chance for a new career in politics.

He's too late to run for the Tea Party in the United States, even though he lives in Boston.

And now he's just destroyed any hope he had of becoming the new leader of the Harper Party.

The Cons and the Postmedia Conspiracy

Ever since Paul Godfrey ordered his major Postmedia papers to run an ad on their front pages attacking the Liberals, there has been no doubt whatsoever which side that media conglomerate is on.

And although the move was widely denounced, it seems that Godfrey no intention of backing down, and is even more determined to destroy Justin Trudeau.

For the anti-Trudeau chorus from his hapless minions is becoming almost deafening.

As Michelle Rempel reminded me yesterday.

Justin Trudeau, the New Military Mission, and the Madness of Rona Ambrose

Now I understand why Justin Trudeau took his time before unveiling our new military mission in Iraq and Syria.

For it was worth the wait.

It's far more rational and sophisticated than the Con's one dimensional bombing mission.

Much bigger than Rona Ambrose had hoped.

And far more Canadian.

Conapocalypse: The Confessions of Jenni Byrne

She was called Stephen Harper's "enforcer", or just "The Beast." The one who took no prisoners.

She ran the last Con campaign, and drove it off a cliff.

Before she was tossed off the bus, and out of her master's inner circle.

But now Jenni Byrne is back, and blaming everyone but herself.

Nathan Cullen's Daring Proposal for Electoral Reform

When I first read Nathan Cullen's proposal to kickstart the electoral reform process, I must admit that I thought the NDP had lost its grip on reality.

For it did seem a bit unreasonable to ask the Liberals to surrender their majority on a committee that will study the matter.

While attacking them in the Commons as if the NDP was still the official opposition.

But now I've changed my mind.

Bernie Sanders and the Attack of the Millionaires

With Bernie Sanders seemingly headed for a decisive victory in tomorrow's New Hampshire primary, it seems that the Millionaire's Club is starting to feel the heat, or the Bern.

For first there was Rex Murphy on the National, denouncing Sanders for his class politics, and suggesting he's a communist.

Even though that tool of Big Oil is a millionaire, and lives in one of the glitziest condos in my neighbourhood. So it's yet another conflict of interest to add to Rexy's record.

And then yesterday, charging out of the gate like an enraged bull, came that other well known millionaire.

Stephen Harper and the Little Killer

When most people think of climate change they probably think of images like this one.

A scorched earth, starving people, and wars over water.

But when I think of climate change I also think of this little killer.

Rona Ambrose and the Con Pipeline Hysteria

By the way Rona Ambrose and the Con zombies have been clamouring for the Energy East pipeline to be built NOW, you might think that if it isn't we're all doomed.

Even though that's nonsense. And considering the state of the planet one might argue that the opposite is the case.

So I'm glad to see that Justin Trudeau is telling her ghastly oil pimps to stop playing politics or chill out.

The Demolishing of Stephen Harper's Legacy (Continued)

I can only imagine how Stephen Harper must be feeling as he watches his foul legacy slowly being demolished.

But it can't be pretty, and it must be painful.

Everything he built is being knocked down, and so soon after he was defeated.

Barely two weeks ago he had to look on helplessly as plans for his massive memorial to himself in the heart of Ottawa were scrapped.

And today it was the turn of the Mother Canada or Mother Harper monument to feel the sting of the wrecking ball...

Michael Harris On the Con Smearing of Justin Trudeau

I was glad to see Justin Trudeau have the courage and the decency to visit Alberta, a province where so many Cons hate him with an intensity that borders on insanity.

I was happy to see him provide Rachel Notley with some badly needed support, and reassure the many suffering people in that stricken province, and the devastated oil industry, that help is on the way.

“I’m going to continually highlight that we’re all in this together as Canadians – that Alberta contributed tremendously to Canada’s growth over the past decade. And now that we’re facing challenging times here in Alberta, Canada will be there for them,” Mr. Trudeau told reporters.

So imagine how I felt to see the Con media in that province attack Trudeau like a pack of rabid zombies.

Lisa Raitt and the Foul Legacy of Stephen Harper

You might think that Lisa Raitt would have learned her lesson, when she put out this big shiny poster about two months ago.

Only to have it greeted with jeers, howls of laughter, and calls that she be arrested for lying like a thief.

Or a Con artist.

But no, sadly it seems she didn't learn a thing. And she is shameless.

For there she was again yesterday peddling the same foul myth...

The Oily Madness of the Con Queen Rona Ambrose

If Rona Ambrose doesn't stop viewing her job as both interim Con Queen AND the new chief spokeswoman for Big Oil, sooner or later somebody is going to tell her she should go pump gas for them.

Because every Question Period, no matter what's happening in the country and the world, she leads off with some kind of oily question.

One day she's flogging the Energy East pipeline, the next day she's raving about a carbon tax.

And the problem for Rona and her Cons is that she isn't very good at it. Or good at anything.

Justin Trudeau and the Politics of Empathy

I thought Justin Trudeau's question and answer session with ten so-called ordinary Canadians the other night on the CBC, was a pretty decent little TV show.

Another pleasant sign that our country is starting to look like Canada again, after the muzzled darkness of the Harper years.

And I certainly didn't think that it would offend anybody.

But then I hadn't counted on the Con media, or the outrage of Tasha Kheirridin.

David Suzuki: Stephen Harper Should Be Jailed

As you know I've long believed that Stephen Harper has got away with murder, and should be put on trial for his many crimes against Canada.

And for his crimes against the planet.

So I'm really happy to see that David Suzuki also believes that Harper should be jailed
